What Role Do They Have To Play?  One still wonders what role do pharmacists have to play... Above all, one still questions what role does faith have to play In the fight against this daily nightmare That has turned friends to friendly strangers Whom we could not hug in dare times And families to mere familiar faces Whom we owe faraway waves of the hand. But to conquer this ravaging nightmare That doesn't give the old and young a befitting burial Pharmacists become soldiers with no guns, They become knights with no shinning armor, But with drugs fighting on the front line, Hoping to bring the world back to its feet. But the world didn't occur out of the blues, It didn't emerge from the theory of a big bang, The world has a Creator, humanity does have a maker.  So, while pharmacists fight on the front line for a cure, Only the Creator can give the world its absolute healing - because "and when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me" ¹ Again, do you still w...

PHARMACY HEROES: FAITH AND PHARMACY IN THE TIME OF COVID-19 It is a known fact that the world is faced by a great virus in the name of Coronavirus, a virus which belongs to the Corona viridae family in the Nido-viridae order. The earlier strains of the virus—Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus—were thought to infect only animals until the world witnessed a SARS outbreak caused by SARS-COV which started out in Guangdong, China. Only a decade later, MERS-COV caused an endemic in the middle eastern countries. In December, 2019, Wuhan, a city in China’s Hubei province, became the first epicenter of the novel CoronaVirus that killed more than eighteen hundred and infected over seventy thousand individuals within the first fifteen days of the epidemic. THE SHATTERED SOUL My mind is a bird with broken wings Wandering in this dark and heavily pregnant sky The cloud roars up the whirlwind Heartbroken and numb with grief As I sit relishing a last gleam of sunlight A rocket surge in Covid-19 cases And the death that comes with it Near me,  Rays of hope rise from the Qur'an Words of peace tingling my thoughts,  "Allah will bring about ease after difficulty" The story of Ayyub is like a vase fallen down the flight of stairs unbroken "... so be not of the despairing" Beautiful to behold is our unsung hero, the pharmacist,  See how she braces us and  delivers the balm to our scourge,  Incarnating love that perches our soul Like parrot perching on shoulders in  a mine craft With low gear for safety,  Drugs are stretched and spread from her love and care,  Just to keep at bay our illnesses She grasps at straw and aims  to relieve us of the pandemic,  But my heart catches fire and...
